PHILADELPHIA - President-elect Barack Obama, tracing the train route Abraham Lincoln took nearly a century and a half earlier, undertook the final leg of his inaugural journey to the U.S. capital Saturday, pledging to reclaim America's spirit but also warning of steep challenges facing the country.
the Messiah talks of the founding fathers:
"They were willing to put all they were and all they had on the line - their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor - for a set of ideals that continue to light the world: That we are equal. That our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness come not from our laws, but from our maker. And that a government of, by, and for the people can endure."
Yet at the same time..:
"We are here today not simply to pay tribute to our first patriots but to take up the work that they began," he said. "The trials we face are very different now, but severe in their own right. Only a handful of times in our history has a generation been confronted with challenges so vast."
"Preparing to board the train, Obama said that "what's required is a new declaration of independence - from ideology and small thinking."
Tell me that doesn't sound like he's got plans to take out certain sections of the constitution and put in new ones.
thats what it sounds like to me. Everytime I turn around the Messiah and his minions an followers have new plans that spit on everything we hold dear.
*YES I call Obama the Messiah. I call him that because A.thats the way the media treats him. B..thats the way his followers treat him. Like he was the second coming of Christ on earth. Of course then there are those that treat him as the second coming of JFK and his wife michelle is the new Jackie O.*
The financial crisis: the gov't solution? Print billions of dollars worth of new currency and give it way for free to people who don't need or deserve it. Gee just think about what THAT is going to do to the value of the US dollar.. I've had this discussion with other people and they are right. The main reason money is worth what its worth is because the 'people, the general population' BELIEVE thats what its worth. If that belief ever gets philosophically flushed down the shitter?
The War on Terror.[see Iraq and Afghanistan at the moment] Iraq is a good place for it..lots of nice open ground and cities..plus for the most part I believe the people there like us. Pulling out of Iraq and pouring troops into Afghanistan is all well and good I suppose IF you let the commanders on the ground run the war..instead of micromanaging the fuck out of it from back in DC. Frankly I see the latter as more likely with the incoming gov't. Its also all well and good if your willing to pay the price in money, materials and blood to kill a shiltoad of terrorists. doing that is also gonna make us MORE unpopular over there in the middle east..not that I give a fuck but; since our incoming president and his people are all talking 'kissy kissy smoochy smoochy lets all make nice and get along' its a relevant thought that I don't think Obama is willing to pay that price. Of course *shrug* niether are most of the jackasses that sit in those house and senate seats.
Obama may surprise me...but I'm not holding my breathe
Life is about to get very interesting..in the chinese curse sense of the word
