Foreign born convicts want to go home

YEah you read that headline right. Some of the illegal aliens in our jails for various violent crimes have decided to better themselves...at our expense. Now they want to go home This is from the liberal rag the Austin American Statesmen

Here is one example:

Take, for instance, the 29-page filing by Mexican citizen Adrian Rosales, 36, serving a 65-year sentence for aggravated kidnapping from San Antonio.

Without an expedited review, Rosales, housed at the Stiles Unit in Beaumont, doesn't become eligible for parole for another 18 years — and might not complete his sentence until 2074, when he's 99 years old.

"I'm writing in hopes that you'll consider me for deportation," Rosales' letter states. "I am one of 80 illegal aliens convicted for kidnapping — THE LOWEST AMOUNT OF ALL VIOLENT CRIMES."

He goes on to list reasons he should be paroled and deported: He's been imprisoned for almost 12 years with a spotless behavior record, his deportation order has already been signed, he helped federal investigators break a child pornography case in 2003, he has a brain tumor that is expensive to treat, and he has earned a business degree from the University of Texas and a master's degree from California State University.

Wow a Business degree from UT and a MASTERS from California State. I wonder how much that education cost us the tax payers of Texas? Hell the Masters from California State probably cost us twice as much.

Hmmm got it. Tuition for the MBA program at the UT McCombs School of Business [which means you actually have to BE there at the school. not happening for our boy] are as follows:

Costs In-State Out-of-State International
Tuition & Fees $32,140 $47,136 $47,136
Est. Books $1,504 $1,504 $1,504
Est. Housing $16,500 $16,500 $16,500
Non-recurring first year expenses
Orientation Fee $700 $700 $700
Laptop $1,300 $1,300 $1,300
One Year Cost $52,144 $67,140 $67,140

Here my children is the list of course programs:

*BIG EVIL Grin* [had you breathing fire for a minute there didn't I?]
So figure $67,288 for the 21-24month degrees and $100,932 if he took the 33 month course. IF he was actually ON campus..going to school AT the school as opposed to online like this one did. Now since he IS incarcerated..he took the course over the net and via correspondence..it'd be considerably less. Now lets see online course fees, online course fees...here we are.
Now if we guess that our boy took all 4 courses that are available on line..:

Development Policies and Problems in Latin America

Legal Environment of Business

Calculus I for Business and Economics

And finally :
Calculus II for Business and Economics

Now the course fees are a total of
$2339 for all four courses.
The books would be a total of...$222.99 plus shipping and handling which you can figure at[if it went USPS..maybe another $20.
Ooops..forgot the prerequisites to get into each class. in order to take the Latin Business course you need to have taken 2 specific Economics courses.
Economics 304K and 304L with a grade of at least C in each
Which for 304L is another $550 in course fees and another $85 for the books. Hmmm..guess you can take the other one online. so 304L is the only prerequisite for the Latin business class. The prerequisites for the other 3 just require approval from the University Extension[online] advisor. So just for those courses...$3197. I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that he took some other courses besides. Maybe a few history classes, maybe some math classes at lower level as a precursor to the calculus courses. So probably $10K all told if he took other courses besides as I suggest. Now lord only knows what courses he took at California State...what the masters program required but probably around $15-20k all told..if the prices are similar to what I found for Texas. As to why he did two schools? I can't find an online MBA for Texas. *shrug* OTOH maybe I didn't search the site hard enough. Lord knows I've wasted enough time on this one today.

Now back to the main point of the post. Honestly? If they're like this guy I just used as an example and seem to want to better themselves and have gotten degrees already. Go for it. But make sure they're actually deported. If they're known members of cartels or criminal syndicates that have committed murder. No they can stay here and rot until they die. Although I suppose we could always return them anyway. *shrug* Some deep thinking to do on this one children.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled inanity and insanity.

  1. Deportation? Sure! I think I read something about a circus cannon somewhere?
Hey, he was alive when he left...

  2. Larry...nope..not NEARLY enough propelling force to send them home. Dropping some of them out a C130..without a parachute now...that's entertainment. I just had to expend the fuel costs....
