Really?

Look..I feel for anyone that gets bullied. Being a victim of bullying from middle school all through high school.. I feel for these people who are committing suicide. I do I feel and have felt your pain. The answer isn't suicide though. Kids if it really gets bad go to your parents, and if they're worth a damn, your school principal. Part of the problem for me wasn't being gay as I'm straight as a ruler...mine was being fat and geeky. Fat, wore glasses, painfully shy...so I was bullied to hell and gone. How did I deal with it? Well aside from getting my bullies asses nailed to the wall, I also had a temper so....I had a list. oh yes I had a little list. The bullying and the resentment of it made for an very angry young man in me. I never thought of suicide though..I like living too much..I plotted all sorts of revenge in my head but never acted on it.
So seriously..the answer to the bullying problem lies in the home. In the home of the bully and the bullied. If neither the parents of the bully or the school district will do anything about it, it lies on the parents of the bullied to get him/her training that will not only allow them to defend themselves but also build some self esteem and discipline. Anyone who engages in that kind of crap is in dire need of an asswhipping. Bullies by and large tend to be all tough and what not in a group but if you start kicking ass and not even bothering to take names, (or clean up the blood) they'll eventually get the hint. I always wished that I'd learned that as young child what I know now. would have saved me a some grief and aggravation.
Teaching kids discipline, self reliance, personal responibility etc are the keys. Not yet more useless goddamn laws that will only be sparsley enforced. All these calls for more laws are about power and control, not because the Politicians calling for it actually give a shit.
Parents..if your lad or lass is getting bullied get him some training..god knows there's enough fighting disciplines out there that you could find one that fits your child. Boxing, Krav Maga, Karate, Aikido, Hapkido, Fencing..I could go on but you get the idea.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled inanity and insanity.
Bullying has been around forever.
ReplyDeleteWhat gets me is so called "CyberBully". BS...just change the channel.
Yeah..if someone is sending you hateful messages, block them. emails..mark it as spam and anything else sent will go straight into the spam folder and then the deleted file
ReplyDeleteMy Grandkids have been taking Karate since they were four. Eldest Grandson is now 11, Granddaughter is seven this month. Youngest Grandson is only two but he'll start too when he's a bit older.
ReplyDeleteIt does provide confidence if a situation goes bad. I'm teaching Eldest to shoot as well and will for the others when they're old enough.
BTW, thanks for dropping by the 'Court and thanks for commenting.
Crucis..ahh you're welcome. It dawned on me that while I've been picking up people perhaps 'I' should go visiting, no? :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I recognized you from the 'Bar. Didn't know you were a blogger as well.
ReplyDeleteI have an lj..but I don't post over there much. just the occasional personal stuff. I created this one strictly for politics pretty much.
