Credit card and debt

Short rant...brought up by the adversities of a few friends.  If you don't have any of either...good for you. If you've got a lot of credit cards, pay them the fuck off and get rid of them. NOW. Keep one...maybe two for an emergency...but ONLY for emergencies. put the occasional small 10-50buck charge on it and pay it off in full to keep the cards active but other than that do not use them.  In case you haven't figured  it out yet...it's a con game. See what they tell you when you're really racking up charges is to just make the minimum payments or a little more. You're over joyed at this so of course you've got noooo problem only making minimum payments. Uh folks? The interest will fuck you up boys and girls.  You'll pay multiples upon multiples to the credit card company for something which...had you just socked away a little here and there...you could have had free and clear by paying cash.   Oh and if your good about making the payments hey! they'll just raise your credit limit for being such a good customer. :/

Eventually you'll hit the point where you can't pay it back or it's tougher to make the monthly payments and hey as far as their concerned......they own your ass. don't pay em? Well they sell the debt to another business called a Debt Collection Agency.  Who...buy the debt from the credit companies for cents on the dollar and THEN go after your ass for as much of the full amount as they can. Eventually if you don't pay them they send..lawyers. You know? Lawyers?  The Scum sucking vampires who make vultures, maggots and any other member of the animal/insect world that gives you the screaming heebie jeebies,  look good sweet and innocent?

Then they sue you in civil court. And take whatever they can. Avoid this fate boys and girls.   Don't get caught up in the con game. Play the game the smart way. One or two cards for emergencies ONLY  except for the odd 10-50 dollar purchase here and there that you pay off in full to keep the cards active.

This public service announcement brought to you by a HIGHLY pissed off curly wolf.

Remember...TANSTAAFL and...

I now return you to your regularly scheduled insanity and inanity.

  1. Learned a long time ago to only buy stuff you can pay for. We use 2 cards but only if we have the cash to pay them off. They are linked to my credit union accounts and I can pay online immediately. We have paid $.12 in interest over the last 20 years using this method (We were out of town for almost a month.) Good advice, though.

Feel free to drop a line but try and keep it civil if it breaks into a heated discussion.
