Sandy the storm of 2012

Okay, Okay already!  I admit I was wrong on this one. Sandy really is going to be one dangerous little wench, because she's going to merge with a northern storm and just become a REALLY odd duck.
Now that THAT is out of the way...perpend...
A.  I really don't understand what most of the freaking out is about, outside of New York. Northern folk are used to dealing with Nor easters and blizzards and such. Those that aren't bloody well should be, after the big ones of the last several years.  Ergo they should have supplies hoarded and set up at the house in preparation to deal with, and weather the storms aftermath til things return to normal. You know...like those of us in the south do for Hurricanes?  Flashlights, lanterns, batteries, Water. Yes water....you can dehydrate and die in the cold, just as easily as you can in the heat.  Coffee, cocoa,...beer. Yes, beer!  Least down here in these southern parts nothing says "thank you for helping me clean up the mess" like a cold brew.  Ya'll up north will have the advantage on that one because you can just stick the case of beer in the snow drift to get the beer cold after the power goes out. Oh and various alcohols. Rum, bourbon, scotch...to sit and sip by a nice snug fire. Firewood...can't have a fire in the fireplace without it. Tools, rakes, shovels, contractor bags. Charcoal or propane...several tanks. Because you are going to need to cook your food somehow if power goes out...charcoal..you are gonna use a ton of. Propane? If you got yourself a gas grill...you'll be able to go longer...because you'll have constant heat that the cold won't sap from the grill like it would with charcoal.  A generator if you're of a mind to go that way. keep in mind those are gonna eat gas so make sure you have enough on hand.  Cash...because assuming anyone tries to open for business while the power is out...no credit card will work. Enough of your meds to see you through.  Bugout bags full of clothing, meds and supplies and a Full tank of gas for your vehicle and a spare can or two...in case you decide to say "screw it" and go west to stay with family or friends or a hotel that actually has power.  those of you in the north will know the list of what you need better than I. I was just born there...you guys live there.

B.  Halloween.  It's gonna suck to be kids. On the other hand..... if the power is out and you can walk around without getting zapped or drowned or fall in a man hole...why not? go for it.take the kids trick or treating and enjoy your halloween. Ya got nothing better to do.

C.  Ahhh now to politics. Anyone else think this is a godsend for Obama?
1. Romney can't campaign in those states now or after the storm really...without the democrat propaganda arm[the MSM] painting him as a heartless asshole for "campaigning when so many are suffering"  The retort to that is of course..."Uhmmm libya?  dead ambassador and SEALs? President went on fundraiser to Vegas?"   Where as Obama will be able to campaign til his hearts content.."touring the devestaion" blah blah blah.   2. It lessons the impact of Libya and moves it to the back burner on the news reels. not that anyone has been hammering this in the MSM. Only bloggers and Fox. the propaganda media simply spewed the rhetoric, lies and bullshit that the administration spouted.  It will certainly affect coverage in the states affected by the storm...not sure about states not affected by it.
3.  The motto of Obama and those in his camp/on his staff has ever been "never let a crisis go to waste"  They are going to milk the shit out of this storm for percentage points and quite possibly ride it into a second term for Odummer.

D. and something that just occurred to me...uhmmm if power is out anywhere on the east coast for weeks...how are the people affected supposed to vote if they use electronic tablet machines?

E. Nahhhhh...what I was gonna put here is a bit paranoid. OTOH just because you're paranoid, does NOT mean they ain't out to get you.

Apologies my friends...

that I'm not posting here much recently. Been busy getting into arguments and discussions elsenet...hell ALL OVER else net.  With all the political chicanery, propaganda and dim wittery going on at the moment and my involvement else net..just don't have the patience right now to do the kind of posts you're used to seeing from me.  That being said a few personal anecdotal tid bits as it regards the election.
I voted earlier this week.  Holy Crap! The lines for the polls!

I mentioned this in one of my forays elsenet and got told basically that I was telling people I was better than them. Uhmmm...no...just getting my duty done and out of the damn way. Same conversation got me accused of being
A. A liberal...which is laughable because as my few liberal friends will tell you, on most things I'm FAR from liberal. Quite the opposite actually.
B. An illegal mexican...*snicker*  Wow!  I'm a mexican illegal?!  Who knew?  It's a stunner to me to have this discovery thrust upon me. I suspect it'll  be an even greater shock to my mom and pops whose family and parents were German and Irish, respectively. Might even give them heart failure.
C.  one of the dumbest people alive.  Oo...after that one I just asked the man with the Superiority comple.......nooo scratch that....the asshole with delusions of adequacy if he felt better.

One of the other things I mentioned in the original comment that started the discussion was that electing Romney was not going to mean a thing if you don't give him senators and reps who want to abide by the constitution, gut the government and return us to a "limited" government.  Which the aforementioned asshole completely ignored to make personal attacks on me.  And some of my more...gentle forgiving friends have had the gall over the years to wonder why I hold most of the human race in contempt...

TANSTAAFL and as always..

You know what?

Your favorite curly wolf lives in 'da hood'.  It gets worse every year. It's not as bad as some other parts of town where violent crime is concerned but it's a hive of gang bangers, break ins, the occasional car theft, the little fuckers last year beat an old man walking down the street.  big tough guys these little fuckers are...takes 6-8 of them to beat on one old man.  I just heard the sound of gunshots a few minutes ago.  8 rounds.   My response?  As I'm just coming in out of the rain from the backyard with the dog no less.."Ahh the sound of gunfire in the evening."    Said as calmly and sardonically as you please.  To be honest... I'm not sure whether to be proud of the fact I'm downright equanimous about this...or bothered by the fact I'm so calm and nonplussed by it.   Meh...

Another Border Patrol Agent killed.

On the Arizona-Mexico border.
Our borders are secure?

Tell me another one. Put military troops, and drones on the border. You don't need to build a wall. Just a long line of man jacks[that's remote operated/ sensor triggered machine guns] , mine fields, Armored Patrols, Air Patrols and Drones. Make the border a  no mans land where in anything that moves and comes across...dies.

You might be a liberal If...

Borrowed from townhall.com

1) You get extremely upset about the idea of the government coming into our bedrooms unless it's to give everyone free birth control.
2) You believe that people who hold the exact same position on gay marriage that Barack Obama did last year are horrible bigots who are unfit to hold office.
3) You think that Mitt Romney, who has raked leaves for old people, helped a dying child with his will, and paid for college educations for kids who became quadriplegics in a car wreck, is less compassionate than Barack Obama who makes fun of kids in the Special Olympics and made his own brother beg other people to get the money to pay for his child's hospital bill.
4) You think Mitt Romney having an offshore bank account is a bigger deal than Barack Obama forgiving a billion dollars of debt owed to us by the anti-American, pro-terrorist theocrats who run Egypt.
5) You believe that Obama putting more Americans on food stamps than any other President in history is a feature, not a bug.
6) You get angry because you believe rich Americans aren't paying their "fair share," but you don't question whether the government is spending its "fair share" of the money that other people earned on the Stimulus, cash for clunkers, Solyndra, and other wasteful uses of our tax dollars.
7) You think Halliburton bidding for and winning government contracts was a scandal since Dick Cheney used to work there, but you think Barack Obama giving away 25 billion dollars in taxpayer money to help out his union cronies at GM and Chevrolet is honest and above reproach.
8) You believe anti-war protests, dead soldiers, and "grim milestones" ceased to be important the moment Barack Obama was elected and chose to continue many of the same practices he criticized when he ran for office in 2008.
9) You think Mitt Romney putting his dog on top of his car to take on his vacation is a big deal, but Barack Obama eating a dog to GAIN ITS POWERS isn't.
10) You think the key issues of Election 2012 are whether Romney releases his old tax returns as opposed to which candidate can help get the economy back on track, create jobs, and get the debt under control.
11) You don't believe there's any voter fraud in America after watching Democrats commit voter fraud on the floor of their own convention to put God and Jerusalem as the capital of Israel back into their party platform.
12) You believe that most of the people who are criticizing Barack Obama are doing it because he's black, but you would be offended if someone said the only reason you criticize Mitt Romney is because you hate Mormons.
13) You think that the best way to "save Medicare" is to support Barack Obama, who took $718 billion out of the program to fund Obamacare, over Mitt Romney who would kill Obamacare and put that money back in the program.
14) You believe Bush is a war criminal for creating Gitmo and wasting terrorists with drone attacks, but Barack Obama is just doing what he has to do to keep us safe.
15) You get more upset about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack Obama does with our money.
16) You think that giving the SEALs permission to kill Osama Bin Laden is actually a "gutsy call" as opposed to the same call pretty much any adult American not named Louis Farrakhan or Michael Moore would have made.
17) You think Barack Obama's four years of miserable failure at creating jobs makes him better qualified to get the economy going than Mitt Romney's wildly successful career as an entrepreneur.
18) You are demanding that the GOP cease its "war on women" by agreeing to the government-funded abortions of tens of millions of unborn women.
19) You believe that guns are dangerous and should be heavily regulated, that is unless they're being given to Mexican cartels by the Department of Justice, in which case you think anything goes.
20) You accept the idea that George W. Bush is responsible for all the problems we have now because the President of the United States is so powerful, but you also believe that Barack Obama isn't responsible for anything that's going wrong because Republicans in Congress won't let him do anything he wants.
