Cui Bono? [Who Benefits?]

I ganked this from a buddy of mine from Canada. He's on the outside looking in, so it is to me a very valid perspective, and questions:

In all the blogs, news reports and discussions, there's been one question that hasn't been asked, nor answered about the very ambitious slate of legislation that the current administration is looking to pass - who's going to benefit from it all? The Cap and Trade bill, as it stands at 1300+ pages and counting is filled with extraneous additions - not just what the cap and trade is going to be, not just who has to participate, but it also includes provisions on how you must deal with your own home, how you may or may not sell your home, what you must do under this bill to reduce the carbon footprint...and every single item has a detrimental effect on the economy and therefore on everyone's life. Too many articles abound about the negative economic effect - hell, even the administration admits to a negative effect initially - and that, during the worst economic downturn since 1929. So - who benefits from this? Not our children, nor our grandchildren, nor their children - as they will be labouring to pay for this legislation. What about the Healthcare bill that the administration wants to pass? Who's going to benefit? The people who still can't afford the government plan because they earn too much for a subsidy but not enough to pay the government premium? Yet - the penalty built in will be equally as bad to that same family. Who, other than people who already qualify for Medicare/Medicaid will benefit from such a bill - one that will cost 3 years worth of GDP? Added to the Cap and Trade bill - that just puts another generation into debt? Where's the general benefit?

To say that none of this seems to be thought out is pointless. This has been thought out by the architects. The question is - what aren't they saying and who are the ultimate beneficiaries of these pieces of legislation? Anyone? Bueller?

Cheers!

Who Paid?

I ganked this from a friend of mine on another site/forum,. I think its valid thinking myself. Enjoy. He's from Canada so he's looking at this from the outside in. Instead of the reverse like me:

Something that caught my eye as I was looking into the educational background of the President....who paid the bills for his education? It wasn't him all by himself - the numbers say it was flatly impossible...I know - I'm the same age and I attended university at the same time he did. So - the Occidental College in California...where he went after graduation from high school. That's plausible enough - combination of scholarship and student aid - although his living expenses in CA compared to being at home in Hawaii would be something else. But...after two years, to transfer to Columbia in NYC? Where the hell did the money for that come from? Wasn't from student aid...that wouldn't have even begin to cover tuition. Scholarship? Possibly...but there's never been any mention of that one. Living expenses? We're talking NYC for goodness sake. Quite honestly - there's something that's not being said and that is...who does President Obama owe? Then, after graduation from Columbia...with a poli-sci degree....in an economic slump - he gets a job with a Think Tank? That, friends and neighbours, requires some pull. How does the kid of a single mom in Hawaii have the kind of muscle to get a position like that? Same holds true four years later when he goes off to Harvard Law - tutition alone would have been a years salary - where in the hell did all the money come from and who was the provider? I've yet to see that question answered...and only a few people have ever asked it that I'm aware of. So, what do you all think? Was it simple up by the bootstraps on the President's part or is there an unknown, unnamed benefactor(s) in the background that perhaps people need to be aware of? After all, knowing who the President is beholden to can make a difference in what decisions he makes.

Cheers!

interesting lyric

A band I'm moderately fond of 'Disturbed' came out with a new album a short while back. One of the 3 singles they released off that album [which I frackin love btw] is a song simply called 'The Night'. there is a lyric in the chorus which goes "Power beyond containing, Are you gonna remain a slave for the rest of your life?"
Power beyond containing.....yep that is what WE as a free people have and quite frankly need to exercise. The government [as I've stated repeatedly] has gotten waaaay to big for its britches. It needs to be pared down.

Are you gonna remain a slave for the rest of your life?
Well...are we?

Race and Crime in America

okay lads and lasses we're in whats called delicate territory. But those who've followed me elsewher know that the word 'subtle' is NOT in my dictionary. In his recent arrest a professor told a cambridge police officer "This is because I'm a black man in America isn't it?"
Not to put too fine a a point on it..YES YOU ASSSHOLE!
He should be grateful one of his neighbors gave enough of a damn to call the cops because he was breaking into his own house. Though the neighbors didn't see who he was at the time. WTF were the neighbors SUPPOSED to think? *facepalm*

Look at these stats from the DOJ from 76-05 anyone notice the trend?
So YES if a diproportionate amount of the crime being committed by a significantly minority portion of the population..guess what? Its NOT profiling ASSHATS...its just noticing the obvious and THAT is how the cat ate the canary! By the same token calling racial profiling, religious bigotry for arabs and muslims is a bunch of bullshit as well.

Now I haven't searched the DOJ site to see how much the stats have changed lately. I suspect they've changed somewhat with the HUGE influx of illegal aliens and the criminal elements there in.

Something to think about before you call racial profiling, ain't it?
